SUMMARY:Latino/a/x Community Engagement in HIV Prevention
DESCRIPTION:This webinar will provide a comprehensive understanding of Latino/a/x cultural background\, barriers to testing and access to care that Latino/a/x patients experience\, and strategies for providing optimal and equitable HIV prevention and care services for this community. \nLearning Objectives\n \nUpon completion of this webinar\, participants will be able to: \n\nDescribe the unique cultural\, linguistic\, and social factors influencing HIV prevention and care in Latino/a/x communities.\nDescribe strategies to enhance awareness and knowledge of HIV prevention methods\, testing\, and treatment within the Latino/a/x community.\nDevelop partnerships and collaboration with community leaders to ensure culturally relevant and accessible HIV services for the Latino/a/x population.\nEvaluate and improve the effectiveness of HIV prevention and care programs by incorporating feedback from Latino/a/x “Community Engagement Surveys” to adapt best practices into local areas.\n\nFaculty \nYelitza Lemoine is the Prevention Director at CAN Community Health. She previously served as the Chair for the Regional HIV/AIDS Committee and the Statewide Latino AIDS Coordinator for the Florida Department of Health. In addition\, she previously served as the Chair of the Florida AIDS Advisory Group.  \nIn her multiple roles\, Ms. Lemoine has incorporated several high-impact strategies that were highly effective in reaching high-risk populations such as Hispanic/Latino and Haitian populations and other minorities. During the pandemic\, she was responsible for the creation and implementation of new strategies such as Online Prevention and Home Testing Kit Distribution among others.  She recognizes that the at-risk populations have difficulty accessing HIV prevention and care services. However\, she firmly believes that through community efforts\, everyone can make positive changes in our society to improve inclusion and equality for the members of the community.
